Stuff Crash is Scared of

Crash has been having a tremendous amount of anxiety lately. This happens from time to time. Here is a list of all the things he'll admit he's worried about. Standing by a closet Stepping on certain stairs Being alone anywhere Looking out his window in the dark Eating the last bite of his food (it might be poison) If people scream outside, he has to come in Mom and Dad disappearing (he always checks to see where we are, even at 4am) Playing at other people's houses Going somewhere without Mom or Dad (like cub scout olympics--in which he took second place by the way) Substitute teachers (he thinks they will make him eat his last bite of food or something, they are secretly the enemy) Noises at night (sure, who isn't?) Being home without Mom or Dad (like when I run his sister four blocks away in the van) And I think there's something about standing on certain "squares" on the gym floor? Once in a while I make him do one of these things for therapy. It seems ...

Crash's Apology Letter to the Bus Driver

Tyler, I’m really sorry that I yelled on the bus. The first time I was just telling my story festival story to my friend because he wanted to hear it again. And I had to yell for that. The second time I’m not really sure what I was doing. I’m really sorry that I did it and I’ll try really hard not to scream on the bus or be crazy or anything from now on. By the way, you are tied at first place with being the best bus driver ever. Crash There are copies of my children's bus infractions at the school, on the bus, in my house AND at the department of transportation. Thus their criminal records begin.

Weird Stuff I've Noticed

First of all, my incredibly healthy eating and these nasty herbs are making me feel so good. But there are some weird things I've noticed. My lower eyelashes have grown a lot longer. My hair is still growing in gray but not so much of it is gray. My nails are thickening. I accidentally gouged Monkey's cheek the other day. Oops. I have a ton more energy. A TON. (See the blog below where I biked to the grocery store and back with my kids). Anyway, I'm loving it. But man. Staring at that freaky ultimate green drink in the morning right after I choke down my Mineral Chi tonic is not my favorite moment of the day. Oh, and followed by 4 tablespoons of molasses...blah. But come on, what wouldn't I do for longer bottom eyelashes? Note: Mineral Chi Tonic tastes like veggie stir fry all blended up into a liquid and concentrated. Mmmmm. Great way to start the day.

Random Moments from my Week

Now you'll see why I haven't had much time to blog! Drove to dinner in Plain City (of all places) on Mother's Day. While Princess was throwing up in the back seat, lo and behold, I ACTUALLY FOUND THE ADDRESS with no real trouble--especially considering I was given bad directions. Most of you have no idea how miraculous this is, but some of you do. Yeah, I know...me finding my way? SCARY. I chalk it up to Mother's Day blessings from above. Spent and incredible afternoon riding my new Mother's Day bike to the grocery store up our river trail with Butterfly leading the way and Monkey in the bike trailer. It was gorgeous and butterfly was amazing. She went through at least 5 tunnels with a good 6 inches of water in them--one had a fountain bubbling up she had to go over. She thought is was the coolest thing ever. And can I just say, that pretty much NOTHING fits in my eco-friendly fabric grocery sack? The one I paid TWENTY dollars for? A couple days later another,...

Can I trade a spider for a bunny?

Okay, this is information I've run into while internet surfing so don't quote me in any dissertations, but APPARENTLY some native americans believe that people have totems-- or maybe just some internet people believe in totems--at any rate, I think the gist is that totems are a kind of animal spirit/god that watches over you or follows you or bugs you but is attached to you for some purpose. The, "How to tell what your totem is" indicators seem to point to the spider as my totem. When I see a spider I'm supposed to pay attention to what it's doing and where it is to eek out symbolic meaning in my own life. Like a spider hanging in the middle of a web might mean, hey, I'm pretty balanced. A spider building a web might mean...um...I should prepare for the future? The pantry needs stocking? Anway, you get the picture... So yesterday, Monkey leaned into my shoulder for a sweet little hug and there was a big black hairy spider right on the back of his neck!!! W...

Crash Leviosa

After telling his friend, "You work on being a magician, I'll work on floating," Crash and his friend (let's call him Wendell) had the best trick at pack night. Of course, I am completely unbiased. Not only did Crash float fabulously, but in the middle of the trick he pretending something went horribly awry and started hollering and bending the fake legs to be up around his head. "Put me down! Put me down!" he yelled, as everyone laughed and clapped. I wish I'd had this trick for my magic show in 4th grade. I think I thought that if I got up on a stage the magic would just sort of happen. Nope.
